What is THCP?

THCP (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is a relatively new cannabinoid that has been discovered and studied in cannabis. It is part of the cannabinoid family, just like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). THCP is distinguished by its chemical structure which has a side chain of 7 carbon atoms, which differentiates it from other cannabinoids.

THCP has attracted particular interest due to its potentially high affinity for cannabinoid receptors of the endocannabinoid system, in particular CB1 receptors. Preliminary studies have suggested that THCP may have more potent psychotropic activity than THC, with potentially more intense and long-lasting effects.

Is THCP more potent than THC?

According to early research and preliminary studies on THCP (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol), it appears that this molecule may be more potent than THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THCP has a unique chemical structure with a longer side chain, which allows it to potentially bind more strongly to cannabinoid receptors in the endocannabinoid system, specifically CB1 receptors.

The strength of the binding between THCP and CB1 receptors may play a role in the intensity of the effects experienced. Animal studies suggest that THCP binding to CB1 receptors may be up to 33 times more potent than that of THC, which may explain why THCP may have more potent effects.
